John Paul’s mother was a lifelong servant leader and pioneer as Pontiac's first bilingual social worker. She believed in service to community, even as a young woman she was recognized as a Youth Leader in Pontiac for her works with St. Vincent DePaul, Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity. She was the matriarch of the family. She passed away when John Paul was 24 years old, but her lasting impact has been profound.
Too often we elect politicians or corporate executives who treat government like a private balance sheet, cutting corners to save a dime without ever considering the human cost. We saw the devastating results of this "business-first" mentality right here in Michigan during the Flint water crisis.
Running government is not the same as running a for-profit corporation. While businesses exist to maximize profit, government exists to protect and serve the people. Furthermore, lawmakers who lack real-world experience often draft out-of-touch laws that might sound great in a committee room, but prove completely ineffective and useless to the communities that actually have to live with them.
John Paul won't need on-the-job training in Washington. With a quarter-century of hands-on experience working in government, he knows exactly how to balance the efficient, responsible use of taxpayer dollars with the actual needs of working families. John Paul is ready to bring his 25 years of problem-solving experience to Washington. He is committed to ensuring our government operates efficiently, respects our tax dollars, and actually works for the people it serves. He brings a deep, practical understanding of public service, backed by rigorous training and decades on the frontlines. John Paul doesn't just talk about policy, he understands how to write it, teach it, and make it work for Michigan.
